UltraSafe is a tool that helps doctors see nerves more clearly during ultrasound scans.
It works in real time by identifying the median nerve at the wrist and highlighting it on the screen while the scan is happening. The aim is to make musculoskeletal ultrasound easier to interpret and to improve the safety of ultrasound-guided injections.
How we built it:
We collected and labelled the ultrasound images ourselves, then trained a lightweight deep learning model to segment the nerve. We also built a Python-based pipeline that processes live ultrasound video, uses the model to detect the nerve, and overlays a predicted green mask in real time.
Next steps:
Next, we plan to improve model accuracy and stability, test it on more ultrasound cases, and make the system more robust for real-world clinical use.
