What is Visualising global and local emissions?

Our project monitors CO2 emissions and air quality to protect public health, combat climate change, and ensure a sustainable environment. We collect data from sources like ourworldindata.org and gov.uk to comprehensively analyse air quality and CO2 emission trends. The analysis highlights key findings and suggests sustainable solutions to reduce CO2 emissions.

Goals

  • Protect public health by monitoring air quality.
  • Combat climate change by reducing CO2 emissions.
  • Promote a sustainable environment through data-driven solutions.

Users

  • Environmental researchers and policymakers.
  • Public health officials.
  • General public interested in sustainability.

Problems it Solves

  • Lack of accessible, comprehensive data on CO2 emissions and air quality.
  • Difficulty in identifying the most affected areas.
  • Need for informed decision-making in environmental policies.

How We Built It

We used data from multiple reputable sources, including ourworldindata.org and gov.uk. Advanced statistical methods and visualization tools were employed to identify key trends and insights. We utilized Python, SQL (BigQuery), and Looker Studio to create an interactive dashboard, focusing on significant aspects and providing actionable recommendations for reducing CO2 emissions. We also used Facebook prophet model (Machine Learning Model) to predict net-zero target in UK

Next Steps

  • Expand data collection to include more diverse sources and regions.
  • Develop a user-friendly platform for real-time monitoring and analysis.
  • Collaborate with policymakers and environmental organizations to implement the suggested solutions.
